The cemetery is open daily: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Individuals and families may walk or drive our grounds during visiting hours.We provide free maps in the literature box at the cemetery office located at 540 North Broadway. For restrictions on groups, see below under heading Group visits. Unauthorized groups on the property will be asked to leave immediately.
Out of respect for those who rest here, we limit the type of activities permitted. At all times act as if you are attending the funeral or grave of a beloved relative or friend. Others will be doing exactly that. Thank you for your cooperation.
Visiting:
-No picnicking or sunbathing.
-No littering.
-Smoking, vaping, alcohol and unlawful drugs are prohibited.
Parking and vehicles:
-No buses, RVs or commercial vehicles.
-Drive with caution and be mindful of pedestrians and funerals. Speed limit 20 mph.
-We have limited parking areas near both vehicle entrances to the grounds. In all other areas of the cemetery, park only on roads where there is enough room for other vehicles to reasonably pass.
-Do not block roads.
-Parking on lawns and graves is prohibited.
Group visits:
-All groups must be accompanied by Sleepy Hollow Cemetery staff. Only Cemetery staff are permitted to conduct tours here. Email us at tours@sleepyhollowcemetery.org for information about scheduling your group and what fees apply.
-External organizations and parties are expressly prohibited from using the Cemetery for personal profit or private activities not authorized in advance by the Cemetery. It is not possible for groups to wander the grounds on their own. Unauthorized groups on the property will be asked to leave immediately.
Photography:
-Photos for personal use may be taken with handheld cameras or phones.
-All other activity and equipment is prohibited unless authorized in advance in writing by the Cemetery superintendent; site fees apply. This includes but is not limited to: video, commercial photography, photo shoots, photography meetups, tripods, monopods, lighting equipment, reflectors, drones. Costumed photo shoots are prohibited.
Monuments and mausoleums:
-Grave stone rubbings and castings cause damage to stones. These practices are strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
-Please refrain from touching any monuments or mausoleums. Stones may topple over posing a safety concern. Additionally, marble and brownstone surfaces are especially susceptible to damage if touched.
-Never sit, stand or walk on a monument or railing.
Animals:
-Pets must be leashed at all times, maximum 6 foot leash. Waste must be collected, bagged, and placed in a proper trash receptacle or carried out of the cemetery.
-Do not feed wildlife.
Trees and other plants:
-Picking flowers, either wild or cultivated, is prohibited.
-Refrain from activities that may damage our plants and trees: no climbing or sitting in trees, or removing leaves, bark, or blossoms from trees.
-Walk only on roads and paths—do not step on flower beds.
Violators of our rules and regulations will be asked to leave.
